Perchance AI RPG is a free text adventure that runs in your browser: you type what you do, and the AI plays game master. It needs no account, shows no daily cap, and even tracks your HP and inventory if you ask it to. The catch is that every adventure lives in that one browser, and the AI behind it changed in June 2026 without warning.^[6][14]

Full disclosure: we are Rabu AI, and we rank ourselves first. We still tell you where Perchance and the others beat us. Every fact below was checked on October 28, 2026, and every claim links to a source at the bottom of the page.

What Is Perchance AI RPG?

Perchance is a site of user-made random generators, run by one developer and paid for with ads. Its AI pages sit on a shared text plugin that runs on the developer's own server GPUs, which is why logged-out visitors see an ad at the bottom of the screen. Anyone can open a generator's code, change it and save a copy, so there are dozens of RPG versions.^[11][12]

The official one is "AI RPG: Text Adventure" at perchance.org/ai-rpg. Its own description pitches it as an interactive story game for "DnD AI / Game Master" play, "kinda like AI Dungeon". You set up a world or pick a starter idea, then type what you do next, and the AI narrates what happens.^[6]

It is deeper than it looks. You choose a writing style (Normal, Short, a Zork/1980s mode or Custom), a difficulty (Default or Hard) and quick actions. An optional info tracker keeps your level, hit points, mana, XP, inventory and location, and the AI can update it as you play.^[6]

What Perchance actually does (checked October 2026)

Several pages that rank for Perchance claim it has no saves and no memory. That is wrong. We read the public code of the AI RPG page on October 28, 2026, and this is what it does.^[6]

Last verified: October 2026, from the generator code anyone can view with the page's edit button.^[6][11][12]

AI RPG, AI Text Adventure and the forks

Search "perchance ai text adventure" and you will find several pages with almost the same name. They are not the same game. Here is what each one is, from its own code.

• AI RPG (perchance.org/ai-rpg). The main page, with the tracker, saves, scene pictures and music described above.^[6]
• AI RPG: Custom Text Adventure (ai-rpg-custom). An altered copy of the main page that lets you change the pacing and genre of your story as you play.^[7]
• Advanced AI RPG Generator (advanced-rpg-generator). A community copy that uses the same description and the same base as AI RPG.^[10]
• AI Text Adventure (ai-text-adventure). The older, simpler page, last edited in August 2024. It plays as a choose-your-own-adventure: the AI suggests three choices each turn, and it calls itself an AI Dungeon alternative.^[8]
• BlizzardUI (blizzardui). A community page for long-form RPG and interactive stories. It advertises a memory system that compresses earlier chapters, a tracker with HP and inventory, and describes itself as uncensored.^[9]

All of them share the same catch: your adventure lives in your browser. Forks can also be changed by their authors at any time, and the developer warns that a fork can send what you type elsewhere.^[13]

Why Players Are Leaving Perchance AI RPG

Perchance has a loyal crowd, and most of them are not leaving because of price. They leave because something broke and nobody told them why. These come up most in r/perchance and on Lemmy, its official community:

1. The June 2026 model change. Around June 24 to 26, 2026, the text model changed again, and players said nobody asked for it. By July a post title on r/perchance read "The ai on AI RPG has died".^[14][17]

2. The same phrases every turn. Running jokes about "the smell of ozone" and knuckles whitening say it all, and a September 2026 thread says almost every reply follows one template. The developer has admitted the newer model repeats itself and fixates on topics.^[15][12]

3. Lost adventures. Your saves live in browser storage, and browsers can clear it without asking. One player lost a five-hour session that never saved, and another commenter says they now export every weekend after losing a year and a half of stories.^[18]

4. Outages with no status page. Text generation went down during a server migration in late May 2026. On September 28, 2026, a site-wide block page scared players into thinking they had been banned, and users keep asking for a simple status log.^[19][20]

5. Long campaigns forget. Summaries stretch the memory, but they cannot hold a 200-turn campaign. Community forks such as BlizzardUI exist mainly to fix memory, which tells you how many players want it.^[9]

6. No multiplayer. AI RPG is a solo game. The developer said in October 2025 that a multiplayer plugin had been drafted, but it has not shipped on AI RPG.^[12]

The other side is real, too. Plenty of players say a free game with no account and no cap is hard to beat, and some prefer the newer model because it follows prompts better.^[21][23]

Characters who stay after the adventure

The people you meet in a story do not have to stay there. In the app, characters are anime companions with memory: they remember what happened, and the relationship moves forward as you talk. They can send pictures, short videos and voice messages, which no text adventure on this list can match.^[1]

Perchance AI RPG Alternatives Compared

Adult Content and Filters

Perchance AI RPG has no content setting on the page. The shared text plugin says the model can write adult content if you prompt for it, while the RPG's own starter ideas were converted to PG-13. There is no age check on the official page.^[11][6]

The alternatives draw clearer lines. NovelAI has no filter on private stories, DreamGen allows adult content for users 18 and over, and AI Dungeon keeps mature play behind an 18+ setting with its safety filter on by default. Friends & Fables allows mature themes like an M-rated game, and AI Realm's guide says most of its models will do spicy roleplay.^{[34][36][26][29][32]}

Perchance is strong on privacy by design. There is no account, your adventures stay in your browser, and the developer says prompts and replies are not stored on the server. The flip side: the developer also warns not to share sensitive personal details, and a fork's author can change where your input goes.^[13]

Rabu AI keeps your stories and chats on your account, which is what lets them follow you between devices. Our privacy policy says we do not use your personal chats to train AI models, that data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and that you can ask us to delete your conversation history.
