What Is the Squibler AI Story Generator?
Squibler is a book and screenplay writing app from a small California company. The free story generator is its front door: you type an idea, pick a genre, and get a draft you can open in Squibler's editor. You do not need an account to try the generator itself.[5][7]
Inside the editor, Squibler is built for long work. It organizes chapters and scenes, keeps character and place cards, makes covers and illustrations, and on paid plans aims at a 200 to 300 page manuscript. In October 2026 it added an "AI Writing Agent" for long books and screenplays.[4][6]

One oddity: Squibler's pricing FAQ still says Plus is "generally $29" and that you can always export your work, while its own release notes say exports became a premium feature on June 30, 2026. We trust the release notes.[4][6] Last verified: October 2026.
Why Users Are Leaving Squibler
Read Squibler's reviews and you will notice they are rarely about writing. They are about money. Here is what comes up most:
1. Surprise renewals and cancelling that fails. Trustpilot reviewers describe charges of $187 and $189.99 after a trial they thought they had ended, and one says cancelling kept failing and put them back on a paid plan. Squibler's replies say refunds come only within 7 days of a renewal.[11][15]
2. A card for the "free" trial. The story generator is free, but several reviewers say the full trial asked for a card first, which is how the surprise renewals start.[11]
3. Lost manuscript text. Reviewers in late April 2026 say an update wiped part of their manuscript. Squibler added version history with restore in September, after the damage.[11][6]
4. Credits that burn fast. One reviewer says 10,000 paid credits were gone after about four prompts. Another says the free plan worked once and never again.[11]
